2006, all I knew was that I wanted to write a story, and if it was good, Oprah would invite me to her show, and I would be famous—the End.

I always did things my way, and when doors were shut and I was not always included or invited to be with the cool kids, I made my lane. This especially was true for my literary career.

What is success? By being a best-selling author with a million adoring fans and an excellent book deal from one of the major publishing houses. I did want that, but I was not going to wait for it to happen. I was going to make my success on my terms and do it my way. Win, lose, or draw, I would be in control of my literary fate.

I have launched an award-winning blog talk show and blog, penned several short stories, consulted dozens of writers to turn their literary dreams into published realities, was a freelance writer, worked as a virtual assistant to several entrepreneurs, produced a popular podcast, worked on a handful of movies, creator of Books At The Barbershop to promote literacy in urban communities and Chat & Chew a meet up to connect readers and authors. I am the author of this story, and failure has never been an option for me.
