⚡️ NON SPOILER REVIEW OF SHAZAM: FURY OF THE GODS⚡️by Marlon McCaulsky

Synopsis: Bestowed with the powers of the gods, Billy Batson and his fellow foster kids are still learning how to juggle teenage life with their adult superhero alter egos. When a vengeful trio of ancient gods arrives on Earth in search of the magic stolen from them long ago, Shazam and his allies get thrust into a battle for their superpowers, their lives, and the fate of the world.
My Thoughts: Shazam is a fun movie that doesn't take itself to serious without falling into the Realm of being too silly. I enjoyed this movie on the level of being a fantasy Adventure like I would a Harry Potter film or Percy Jackson film but was superheroes.
Shazam in the comics is never been a dark and serious character like Batman or Superman. So to tone of this film is definitely more family-friendly. I enjoyed seeing more of the Shazam family in this film. Like any family people grow up grow apart and want to do their own thing. But just because you leave home doesn't mean that you're not a family.
Helen Mirren and Lucy Liu we're good villains for this film.
They were intimidating and had legitimate beef with the Shazam family. Lucy Liu wasn't messing around! It was good to see it all come down to Shazam being the hero of his own film. And since it was in the trailer Wonder Woman does make a very important appearance at the end. Although I would have liked to have seen more of her interacting with Shazam in the meat of the film.
While this is not a perfect movie it is a very enjoyable one. There is a very important post-credit scene that could indicate the future of where Shazam could be next in the DCU. If you enjoyed the first Shazam you're going to enjoy this film.
Grade: 🅱️➕️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Sidebar: I think the potential of the Shazam franchise was cut short. Had Warner Brothers had not allowed Dwayne The Rock Johnson to hijack the Black Adam character and instead integrate him into the Shazam films this series could have been a lot more profitable and successful. Black Adam is to Shazam what the Joker is to Batman. Had this film been a Shazam (family) versus Black Adam it would have been a lot more hype and pay off for this franchise. This is a good example of not allowing an actor to dictate how a character should be. The actors are there to service the characters and the story.
