Yes and No.
Drake is not bigger than MJ in cultural impact and legacy. Michael helped to desegregation of popular music in the United States. His influence impacted future artist from Usher, Beyoncé, Chris Brown and even Drake. His influence extended to inspiring fashion and raising awareness for social causes around the world. So that's a area Drake can never compare.
But where he does surpass Michael Jackson is in music sales. Not Albums but in total music sales.
According to the RIAA (Recording Industry Association of America), Drake has passed Elvis, Eminem and Michael Jackson for total music sales grossing up to $218,280,000 in sales. No other solo male artist has even broken $200,000,000, Elvis is second with 191,000,000 and Eminem is next at 172,000,000.
●Just to be clear, Michael Jackson is one of the best-selling music artists in history with over 400 million records sold worldwide. According to the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), Jackson has sold 89 million certified albums in the United States, making him the sixth top-selling album artist in the country.
●With 170 million records sold worldwide, Drake is among the best-selling music artists in history. Drake has achieved eleven number-one albums on the Billboard 200 and twelve number-one hits on the Billboard Hot 100. Billboard hailed him as the "Artist of the 2010s Decade" and the 16th Greatest Artist of all time.
The way music sales worldwide is very different from when Michael Jackson was in his heyday. The music is consumed differently. And more people around the world have access to buy music in different formats than vinyl, tapes, and CDs.
